Inside Storylink Creative’s First Customer Agency Partnership Day

Great experiences don’t begin with designs, displays, or technology. They begin with understanding. That belief was at the heart of Storylink Creative’s first-ever Customer Agency Partnership Day (CAP Day), held July 8, 2026. Created as a forum for open dialogue, shared learning, and deeper connection, CAP Day brought together Storylink clients, industry leaders, and independent facilitators for a day centered around one important question: How can we better understand the people, organizations, and stakeholders we serve so we can create more meaningful experiences together?
The answer wasn’t found in a presentation or a project brief. It came through honest conversations, thoughtful discussion, and a willingness to listen.

Moving Beyond Projects to Build True Partnerships
The idea behind CAP Day was simple: The strongest partnerships are built when agencies and clients take time to understand each other beyond individual projects. Trade shows, events, and experiential marketing programs are shaped by countless stakeholders — buyers, attendees, internal teams, sales organizations, associations, industry partners, leadership teams, etc. Each group brings different expectations, goals, and challenges. To create experiences that truly deliver value, marketers must understand the broader ecosystem surrounding their brands.
“We spend so much time helping our clients understand their audiences, but we have to start by understanding our clients themselves — their challenges, their priorities, and the world they operate in,” said Matt Williams, Founder and CEO of Storylink Creative. “CAP Day was created to listen first. When we understand our clients better, we can become better partners and create better solutions.”

Listening, Learning, and Challenging Assumptions
To ensure the conversations reflected the priorities of participating organizations, discussion topics were selected based on client input and guided by independent facilitators.
Miss Shannan Paul served as the event emcee, guiding attendees throughout the day and helping create an engaging, collaborative environment. Jatin Setia and Tim Swanson served as OptIn facilitators, helping participants explore challenges, opportunities, and perspectives through thoughtful discussion. The day’s conversations focused on two issues that reflect the realities facing many organizations today.

The first discussion, “Staying Fresh with Flat Budgets,” explored how brands are creating impactful experiences while managing financial constraints. Participants discussed how organizations are balancing creativity and practicality, innovation and resources, and ambitious goals with business realities. Rather than viewing budget pressures simply as limitations, the conversation explored how constraints can create opportunities to rethink priorities, focus investments, and identify what truly drives impact.
The second discussion, “Brand Strategy & Execution,” examined how organizations create more intentional event presences that support broader business goals. Participants explored the relationship between strategy, messaging, audience understanding, and execution, as well as how successful experiences must go beyond looking impressive to delivering measurable value.

Many of the conversations throughout CAP Day were rooted in Storylink’s proprietary OptIn Model, created by Matt Williams. The framework is built around the philosophy that before we create solutions, we must first understand the people those solutions are designed to serve. And that means all of them.
The day also featured a keynote presentation from Mark Parrish of the Parrish Family Fund, providing attendees with additional perspective and inspiration around leadership, connection, and impact.

Turning Conversations Into Better Experiences
While the discussions were the foundation of CAP Day, the relationships built outside the meeting room were equally important. The experience included opportunities for attendees to connect through a boat tour, dinner, and a Minnesota Twins game — moments intentionally designed to encourage conversation and relationship building in a more relaxed environment.
The goal wasn’t simply networking. It was human connection. In an industry built around collaboration, trust is created through shared experiences and genuine relationships. CAP Day provided an opportunity for participants to connect not only as business partners, but as people.
For attendees like Donna Rosenhouse, Manager, Global Sales Strategy at Sonesta International Hotels, that connection was one of the most meaningful parts of the experience. Following the event, Donna shared her appreciation for being included in the first-ever Storylink Creative Customer Agency Partnership Day:
“I didn't want to delay expressing my sincere gratitude and appreciation for inviting me to participate in the first-ever Storylink Creative Client Agency Partnership Day. The accommodations at the boutique hotel felt like I was attending a retreat, providing a chance to recharge while connecting with a wonderful partner in SLC and your other clients. It was time incredibly well spent and a refreshing break from the everyday. I left feeling inspired, energized, and grateful to have been included.”

CAP Day was never intended to be a one-day conversation that ended when attendees left the room. The insights gathered throughout the event will help Storylink continue improving how it serves clients, from refining processes and communication to identifying new ways to maximize marketing investments.
Storylink extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the inaugural CAP Day:
